Grethe Dillon
Grethe, president of Calhoun Insurance, might be one of the few people who can say she’s been in the insurance businesses her entire life. A graduate from the University of Iowa and Minnesota, Grethe purchased Calhoun Insurance in 1999. But before that, Grethe was taking on workers' comp and benefits for large industrial clients in what was beoming known as employee leasing. Grethe embraces the side of insurance that aids in safety for clients, and takes great pleasure in getting to know each of them personally. When she’s not sitting across the desk from her husband, Tom, a talented engineer with whom she shares office space, you’re likely to hear she is out of the office volunteering with one of the activities of her four children.

Gayle Shursen
Gayle Shursen has owned and operated Highland Insurance Agency in St. Paul for many years. She affilates with Calhoun Insurance Agency to bring Calhoun her small commercial and personal insurance service expertise, and to assist new agents in experiencing this interesting career. Gayle's daughter and family live out-of-state, which makes Gayle very connected to pictures on her new i-phone. Everyone who has worked with Gayle continues to do so at Calhoun. Gayle is assisted by Marge.

Donna Pilla
Donna joins Calhoun Agency after 10 years as an Allstate agent. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her dear husband of 26 years, as well as her two children - ages 11 and 13. You never know where Donna might be working-with today's technology, she may well be quoting and issuing insurance policies from one of her favorite places: her lake home!

Allied Service Center Team:
Calhoun hired the Allied Service Center in Des Moines, IA in 2010, because Allied has a long history of client service, being owned by Nationwide Insurance. The licensed agents at Allied Service Center can instantly process current policy quotes, "what if" type scenarios, answer questions about your bill, process a claim, refer you to a preferred vendor for claim-repairs (if you prefer), and generally instantly process anything you might ask regarding your current Allied policy: add a store location, car, or piece of equipment. Allied Service Center will not write a new policy-if you are an auto client and buy a home, you will be referred back to the agency. If your policy cancels for non payment of premium, and you cannot be reinstated, you will be transferred back to the agency to be rewritten-in Allied or another carrier. The Allied Service Center is paid for by Calhoun, and is accessible 24/7.

Selective Insurance Service Center Team
Selective is one of those wonderful insurance companies that spends more time on making sure their product works and their service is great than in making sure you know their name. An A+rated carrier based in Branchville, NJ, Grethe Dillon brought them to Minnesota in 1999. Selective wrote commercial insurance in MN until 2008, and now offers its full suite of products in MN, WI, and IA. Selective is a national carrier that limits its distribution to agents like Calhoun who will tell you about them. Selective's service center is hired by Calhoun, and is located in Charlotte, NC. Selective's licensed agents can answer any question you might have, and their service is wonderful. Changes are immediate. Our Selective Service Center is available weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm. These hours and agents allow us to serve you with more complicated mattters when you need us most. Changes to your cars, homes, business locations, evidences of insurance, and billing questions and claims can all be processed through the licensed service center agents we hire to serve you.

Hartford Commercial Service Center Team
Hartford is a huge, well-established, well-known insurance company. In all those years, Hartford has figured out how to do what it wants to do when it wants to do it. Calhoun does not hire a Hartford Service Center to serve you. Hartford just has one! There are some transactions that you can discuss directly with Hartford. If you have a change you would like to make on your current policy, Calhoun recommends talking to Calhoun directly. If you have a claim or billing question, you are welcome to call Hartford.

Tom Dillon
Tom Dillon is not technically an employee of Calhoun, but our site is not complete without his profile. Tom's engineering firm shares space with our agency, and Calhoun is generally better at insurance than anything technical, so we need the help. Tom pointed out we might attempt our own website and offered a crash course-but even he is a hobbyist in that arena. Married to our agency president, even Grethe hardly understands what exactly Tom does across the desk from her. His website says,"Dillon Engineering has the most extensive supply of FFT/IFFT IP Cores for FPGA and ASIC to meet the needs of the most demanding applications.", and, as long as NASA pays their bill, Grethe is fine with that.
